GB 9685-2016 National Food Safety Standard: Standard for the Use of Additives in Food Contact Materials sets out a positive list of additives that can be used to produce various food contact materials and articles including their use scope and restrictions. It replaces GB 9685-2008 and comes into force on 19 Oct 2017. New additives or new uses which are not included in GB 9685-2016 must be approved by the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) first before they can be used to produce certain types of food contact materials and articles in China.
