"Notified classification and labelling" are hazard classifications provided by manufacturers and importers of chemicals in the EU as part of their REACH registrations. "Companies have provided this information in their C&L notifications or registration dossiers. ECHA maintains the C&L Inventory, but does not review or verify the accuracy of the information." These classifications are available in the C&L Inventory, which also provides harmonized classifications (EU H-statements). "Notified classifications" are separate from "harmonized classifications," which are described in Pharos here.

Pharos includes a subset of the Notified classifications available in the C&L inventory: from the registered substances, we’ve incorporated hazards from submissions including at least six notifiers. This arbitrary cutoff is intended to filter out less-well vetted hazard associations. Based on our research and your feedback, we may adjust this cutoff in the future.
