More about Historical: Single component polyurethane sealant - 2016

Single component polyurethane sealants are primarily made of a polyurethane prepolymer, filler, plasticizer and solvent. Additional additives including moisture scavengers, catalysts and adhesion promotors are commonly included in these formulations. The sealants covered in this CP are moisture-cured, so the prepolymers crosslink after application in the presence of moisture. These smooth, non-sag, low modulus elastomeric sealants can be used in interior or exterior joint sealing applications such as expansion and control joints, siding gaps, gaps around perimeters of doors and windows, and other wall penetrations. They are typically paintable and meet ASTM C920 Type S, Grade NS with a minimum joint movement capability of +/-25%.
